Done Me Wrong

Elva Fields

Okay, stay with me here: who else loooooves the scene in White Christmas (all of them right?!) where Rosemary Clooney as Betty - in her anger at Bob, Bing Crosby - performs solo (sans sister Judy) in the Carousel Club, singing "Love - You Didn't Do Right By Me?" She's wearing that devastatingly stunning black gown by Edith Head (a masterpiece, really) and the song by Irving Berlin is sultry and searing and perfect for Clooney. Something about this necklace - once it was complete - just channeled that scene. Black dress, bada@@ neckline, jazz, a bit of sparkle...anyone else see it? Well, she ends that song with its line "Yes, Mister Love, you done me wrong," and thus we had our necklace name. (Here's a video just in case you need proof that RC was legendary and the dress incredible.)

Whether or not you're a fan of the best Christmas movie of all time, we can all agree that love has done us all wrong at some time or another, and in those moments, nothing but a black heart necklace will do. An antique heart-shaped buckle from the early 1900s is studded with black glass jewels and becomes the clasp for five strands of black onyx, obsidian, and crystal in all shapes and sizes. Whether you wear the buckle at the side of the strands, at front center, or around back to show off just the beads, you've got a statement-making style no matter your status on Mister Love. Measures 18" at shortest strand.
