Another Place and Time

From another place and time, the materials in this beauty are now linked for life. At one of our favorite flea markets earlier this summer, we stumbled upon a pair of carved mother-of-pearl buckles. From their crescent shape to their studded surface (like beautiful bursts or blooms in patinated silver across the lustrous sheen of shell) they were true treasures, likely dating to the early 20th century. A few weeks later, we brought home these hand-wrought silver saucer beads home from a buying trip, though they originally hail from Mali and are one of our all-time favorite African beads. The pairing is simple and elegant, spare and stylish. Timeless, really, and for anyplace. A silvered copper toggle brings it all together at a flattering 21.5" in length.
