Allowing Unfolding

Oh, how much more enjoyable life is when we allow its unfolding, rather than forcing outcomes and opportunities. The ways in which this design came together seemed a natural unfolding of fun and beauty. We found this cheerful vintage brooch-and-earrings set at a favorite flea not long ago, instantly in love with its Kelly green and white enamel finish, and initially thought black beads might be just the thing to make them pop. Life, as it does, had other plans; when we spilled a bag of beads that were odds and ends from other projects in the studio, this lively orange, navy, and green combo presented itself. We're loving the mix of African glass, vintage glass, crystal, jade, ammonite, and chrysoprase for its happy hues and interesting texture, and a silvered copper hook brings it all together at 19.5" in overall length.
