She's a Study in Contrasts
Elva Fields
Though the buckle clasp of this gem began its Elva life as part of a 2011 necklace design in green, its return to the studio seemed to prompt a need for a new take on its black-and-creme Deco design. Despite the losses to the enamel decoration (visible in the images) the buckle remains beautiful, and we knew keeping its two-tone style would be oh-so glamourous. These carved magnesite beads, inspired by antique Czech and African glass beads called "snake vertebrae" beads, echo the zig-zag diamond-shaped geometric pattern in the buckle, and the addition of small, glossy black onyx beads throughout the strands heighten their drama and drape. A study in contrasts, she's ready for her new lease on life. Measures 18" length, shortest strand.
